Terry Vourantonis, fur designer, founder of Furko

Terry Vourantonis was the founder of Furko Inc., a fur design company that was known internationally for high quality Canadian beaver apparel. Terry, who is now retired, was also a Canadian pioneer of reversible (“double-face”) furs, where the leather side of the pelt is finished as leather or suede. He served for many years as a volunteer director and then president of the Canadian Fur Trade Development Institute, the manufacturers’ association that ran the Montreal NAFFEM, the first trade show to bring together the entire North America’s fur market.
